5 TITLE 5.3 EIGHT WEEKS OF STALKING BY RICK NEWMANN’S GIRLFRIEND
“The
Drama Began The First Day of My Lease. Newmann and His Girlfriend Sarah
Evidently Don’t Believe They Can Be Told No or Ignored.”
From
December 1, 2024, to January 30, 2025, I was subjected to a continuous pattern
of harassment and stalking by Sarah, the girlfriend of Property Manager Rick
Newmann. Sarah obtained my personal phone number without my consent from
documents stored in Rick Newmann’s residence, which also functioned as the
rental office. This invasion of privacy marked the beginning of months
of unwanted contact, including repeated phone calls, text messages,
and in-person confrontations of Sarah’s inebriated, unannounced visits to my
door.
She was
growing in anger and boldness by the day because I wouldn’t respond to her. I
was told by the resident that helped move me into the apartment that Sarah
often becomes inebriated to the point of running about the property in her
underwear, screaming and beating on residents doors and then refusing to leave
their houses after they open the door. On top of what I had observed and what management
themselves said about Sarah—in front her (irrespective of the misogyny behind
it) I didn’t want a part of it. I’ve very frail physically, alone in this town
that’s so secluded there’s no form of public transportation and circulars don’t
get close enough to public transportation to go up to the twin cities where I
know people and I cannot get healthcare in the county due to bold racial
resistance to my being in the town (black). I wasn’t going to have locals in my
home and get stuck in a situation I cannot get out of. So, I simply ignored the
uninvited intrusions which is my right as a tenant.
At about
week three, Sarah took to congregating outside my apartment door with a male
neighbor from across the hall, leaving behind drug paraphernalia and behaving
in an intoxicated and aggressive manner. I didn’t see her drop it but it’s
always in the same spot she stands in after she leaves. During these instances,
she would make disparaging comments, threaten my tenancy, and create loud
disturbances, which included kicking or throwing objects at my door before
running back to the rental office.
Her
actions caused me significant distress and fear for my safety. On multiple
occasions, I felt effectively trapped inside my own apartment for hours at a
time because she’s outside the door, as I could not risk encountering her in
her agitated state.
This
fear was exacerbated by Sarah's access to property keys, raising concerns about
unauthorized entry into my unit. My anxiety heightened to the point where I
routinely double-checked my door's chain lock, concerned that she or her
boyfriend, Property Manager Rick Newmann, might enter unannounced, potentially
to harm me physically or sexually.
That
constant monitoring and lingering at the door and on the phone didn’t work so Sarah’s
harassment escalated to noise disturbances in the middle of the night. My unit
is the only unit above the laundry room—Sarah and Newmann have access to the
apartment that is also under my unit. I snore. They can here that. For a week ½
-2 weeks; just when I would fall asleep there would be a loud bang from the
slamming of laundry machine doors, machines and pipes (not normal use) jolting
me out of my sleep. Wreaking havoc on my Stage II hypertension, heart palpitations
and then that would trigger muscle tremors and Chiari Malformation related headaches with nausea—I wasn’t getting any sleep, for week, a theme in these apartments I’ve
since learned. My health cannot contend with that. I have to sleep and recharge
or my body starts giving out on me rapidly.
I didn’t
know who it was, I only knew what it was doing to me and that the machines
would be free all day. It wasn’t until I slip into deep sleep that the noise
would come and that felt punitive. Often it was between 12 a.m. and 4 a.m.
Despite the property's Residential Lease Agreement noise ordinance, which
prohibited such behavior after hours.
Anthony
Anderson’s phone was disconnected (according to rick), I had never met or
spoken to the owner Don Klyberg and no phone number on him was supplied. There
was only Rick Newmann, who ignored my multiple complaints completely.
I
reached out to him several times, referencing the surveillance cameras he sold
me on that were supposedly in place to ensure tenant safety, but my requests
went unanswered.
My medical condition, Chiari malformation, makes sudden loud noises or adrenal stressors a severe health risk, leading to debilitating migraines and muscle spasms that can mimic mild grand mal seizures that can last days or weeks exhausting my system to the point of hospitalization. These symptoms can become so intense that they have, in the past, caused me to crack all four of my molars from the strain. Chiari is neurological, but also physical.
I don’t need anything special
but I do need peace, order, quiet and cleanliness in my own space in order to
remain independent of hospital or
nursing home. I have been through a lot more than most for nearly 2000 days; my body has been put through atrocities with no medical relief for the most part. I basically need to be left alone to heal and that's what I moved to the property to do as a means of protecting my health until better is available. Despite the lease provisions for noise control, Rick Newmann
chose not to address these violations, causing further physical and emotional
harm.
